In March 2011, Forward 25 Careers designed and delivered the Exeter Mashup in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA New York and Geneva office) and Integrare, a research Institute based in Spain to deliver the first ever set of online apps that were launched as part of a global report with up to 30 partners. The model for delivery was not only new to the partner organisations, the programme resulted in an innovative combination of researchers, project leads, developers and a translator working together to develop web apps over 4 days. A total of 20 participants took part in the event and 8 designers/developers worked on the final four apps. Participants travelled from parts of the UK including representatives from university of Southampton as well as USA and Spain for this event.
Following on from this project, a launch took place for the report with the apps being featured in the front landing page. Driven by the energy observed in the development stages through collaboration, the lead for UNFPA communications team has since used the collaborative model to deliver the new logo for the 7 billion campaign which is picking up pace for October 2011. The Exeter Mashup resulted in young people and professionals already working in the the health and digital sector gaining new experiences and skills as well as contributing to digital communication of outcomes for a State of the World Report.
